Macomb County, MI : 29-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash with a minivan in a busy Macomb Township on Wednesday night, May 4, 2016

A 29-year-old man died late Wednesday when his motorcycle collided with a minivan in a busy Macomb Township intersection, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeremiah King, 29, was riding a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Romeo Plank when he struck a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country minivan around 9:30 p.m. at 23 Mile, officials said.

The minivan, driven by a 42-year-old Shelby Township woman, was in the process of making a left turn from southbound Romeo Plank onto eastbound 23 Mile when the crash occurred.

King, a Macomb Township resident, struck the van’s rear passenger side, officials said. He was wearing a helmet but was severely injured and rushed to Henry Ford Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The sheriff’s office did not release further information on the minivan driver, including any injuries. A third car also in the intersection was damaged by flying debris, officials said.

It does not appear that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, but further test results are pending. Officials are investigating the crash, interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence gathered from the scene.
