Linn County, IA : One person killed and eight people injured in three-car crash on Thursday December 3 2015

Authorities released little information on Friday about a three-car crash on Thursday afternoon that killed one person and injured eight near the intersection of Highway 34 and Goltra Road west of Lebanon.

One of the vehicles involved in the accident, which was reported at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, was cut in half. A van involved in the accident had rolled onto its side. Seven of the injured victims were traveling in that van and were transported to area hospitals.

As of Friday night, authorities had not identified any of the victims.

The highway was closed for nearly five hours as the Linn County Major Accident Investigation Team reconstructed the accident. Westbound traffic was detoured down Goltra while eastbound traffic was diverted down Seven Mile Lane.
