PENDLETON, IN : Four people were injured in a head-on accident on Wednesday, June 28, 2017

Four people were injured in a head-on accident Wednesday evening on Indiana 67 in the construction zone north of Huntsville.

The accident occurred as a southbound vehicle stopped to turn left onto Ridge Lane about 8 p.m. The vehicle following behind stopped, but a third southbound vehicle tried to go around and hit a northbound vehicle head-on, according to Pendleton police Patrolman Mike Alford.

The driver of the southbound vehicle in the crash had a leg injury, Alford said. Three other people complained of pain, he said. The four people were taken to hospitals.

The road has reopened to traffic.

A second serious accident was reported on Interstate 69 in Delaware County about the same time. Traffic was being diverted from the area.

No other information was available late Wednesday evening.
