Edgewater, MD : Two seriously injured in Route 214 crash on Wednesday night, December 14, 2016

Two people suffered serious injuries after their cars collided on Route 214 in Edgewater Wednesday night, the county fire department said.

Firefighters responded around 7:25 p.m. to the collision on Central Avenue East, the area near Route 214 and Turkey Point Road. The people involved were a 57-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man. There were no passengers in either car, county fire said.

The drivers of the vehicles were transported to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center by a Maryland State Police medevac helicopter. The injuries weren't believed to be life-threatening, county fire said.
