Lee County, FL : 55-year-old man killed while walking westbound on Bayshore Road on Monday afternoon, May 4, 2015

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that unfolded Monday in Lee County.

A pedestrian from North Fort Myers, 55-year-old Ted Knox, did not survive.

The incident happened off SR-78 Bayshore Road around 3:49 pm.

According to a press release Florida Highway Patrol, a 2004 Dodge Ram driven by 89-year-old Jerry Bryant of Punta Gorda was traveling eastbound on SR-78 east of Old Bayshore Road near the south grass shoulder.

The front right portion of the vehicle collided with Knox in an unknown location, according to the FHP release, which does not list any charges.
