LOUISVILLE, KY : A fatal crash in St. Matthews on Sunday, October, 8th 2017

Police are investigating a fatal crash in St. Matthews.

It happened just after 4 a.m. Sunday in the 4600 block of Shelbyville Road.

Police said a car rear-ended a tractor trailer. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Timothy Baxter-Diniz, 27.

Officials said the driver of the semi was not injured.

Shelbyville Road was closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

Police said speed may have been a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
