Bridgeville, DE : Elkridge man suffers minor injuries in fatal Delaware crash on Monday, 17th February, 2020
Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that left one woman dead and two other people, including an Elkridge man, injured near Bridgeville on Monday morning.
A 67-year-old woman was driving her Volkswagen Jetta around 9:30 a.m. and police said she stopped at the posted stop sign on Apple Tree Road. Meanwhile an Elkridge man was driving eastbound on Redden Road, where traffic doesn’t stop, in his E250 Ford Econoline Van.
The woman then turned into the intersection “for unknown reasons," police said, and veered directly into the Ford’s path. The man hit the left side of the woman’s vehicle and both cars spun, causing the Ford to end up partially resting on the woman’s Volkswagen, police said.
Police said the Seaford, Delaware, woman was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to a local hospital, where she died. Her name is being withheld until family has been notified.
The 62-year-old Elkridge man driving the van was wearing a seat belt and transported with minor injuries to an area hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.
