Erath County, TX : Driver faces charges in Erath County crash that killed baby, 5-year-old on U.S. Highway 281 on Tuesday, 4th December 2018
A Stephenville woman accused of causing a crash Monday afternoon that killed two children and hospitalized the driver will face charges, officials say.
The injured driver, 33-year-old Carrie Sackett, was headed north on U.S. Highway 281 in Erath County with two girls, ages 5 years and 9 months, when she slowed to make a left turn.
Alyssia Litwin, 33, didn't notice Sackett's vehicle and rear-ended it, pushing it into the southbound lane, Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Dub Gillum said. A 17-year-old driver heading south then hit the right side of Sackett's vehicle.
Both girls died at the scene, and Sackett was airlifted in stable condition to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, Gillum said. The teenager was taken to a hospital in Stephenville.
Litwin was treated for minor injuries and will be charged, Gillum said.
