Harrison County, TX: Pursuit from NARMC ends in crash off square, arrest of Houston, Texas, woman on Tuesday, August 4th 2015
A pursuit that started at the hospital in Harrison about noon Tuesday resulted in the arrest of 42-year-old Amber Liane McComas of Houston, Texas, after she crashed into a Harrison Police car on Willow Street just off the Harrison Square.Police Chief Paul Woodruff said a caller reported a possibly intoxicated female subject in a gray SUV with Texas license plates on the parking lot outside the emergency room entrance at North Arkansas Medical Center just after noon Tuesday.When officers arrived, they located the vehicle. The female subject in the SUV, later identified as McComas, waved them toward the vehicle, Woodruff said.Officers thought she was requesting assistance, so they approached. However, Woodruff said, McComas put the vehicle in drive and sped away, causing Ptl. Ryan Guffey to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.Guffey and Assistant Police Chief J.R. Cagle, who was riding with Guffey for the final two weeks of field training, gave chase, leaving the parking lot westbound on Bower Avenue.
