ST. CHARLES, IL : Geneva man dies in St. Charles crash on Wednesday, 9th November 2016
A 67-year-old Geneva man died as a result of injuries he suffered in a crash Nov. 9 in the 3700 block of Stern Avenue, police announced in a news release.
The preliminary investigation showed that alcohol may have contributed to the crash, the release stated.
Thomas Chlebowski, of the 400 block of North Glengarry Drive, Geneva, was first transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, then flown to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he died of his injuries, the release stated.
The crash occurred about 2 p.m., when a 2002 Toyota Tundra pickup, driven by Chlebowski in the eastbound lane of Stern, then crossed over the westbound lane and went up on the parkway, the release stated.
A 2017 Freightliner semi-truck and trailer was backing into the loading dock for the business at 3810 Stern Ave., when the Tundra continued into the private parking lot and struck the front passenger side tire of the semi, the release stated.
The semi was completely in the parking lot for the business and was not on the roadway, the release stated.
The 35-year-old driver of the semi was not injured, and no citations have been issued as a result of this crash, the release stated.
