Olympia, WA : I-5 blocked, dump truck leaves scene after hit-and-run crash in Olympia on Wednesday, November 16th 2016

Police are looking for a large light-blue dump truck that drove away from the scene after a hit-and-run injury crash that blocked three lanes of Interstate 5 in Olympia for about an hour, the Washington State Patrol reports.
State troopers and medics responded to the scene, in the northbound lanes of I-5 at Pacific Avenue, at about 7:40 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a serious collision involving a dump truck, a semi truck and a smaller passenger car.
The driver of the car was found at the scene with a serious head injury. That victim was rushed to the hospital. The driver of the semi truck remained at the scene.
Witnesses said a dump truck involved in the crash drove away from the scene after colliding with the other vehicles.
Trooper T. Bartolac of the State Patrol said the dump truck was described as light blue in color with the word "Rinkle" or something similar written on the driver's side door.
The truck was last seen heading east on 29th Avenue SE near College Street in Olympia, Bartolac said.
He said it is possible the driver of the dump truck did not realize he had been involved in a crash.
"These rigs are so big, maybe they didn't feel it or realize they hit something with their trailer," Bartolac said.
Nevertheless, State Patrol detectives are at the scene gathering evidence for a criminal investigation in case the dump truck driver purposefully left the scene of the accident.
Three lanes of I-5 were blocked for about an hour after the crash. All lanes have now reopened, but a seven-mile backup remained as of 9 a.m.
