Bastrop County, TX: A woman killed in a crash when she lost control of the vehicle at U.S. 290 on Wednesday, April 13th, 2016

A woman killed in a crash Wednesday morning in Bastrop County has been identified as 21-year-old Stephanie Islas-Viera of Giddings, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Authorities said Islas-Viera was driving east in a red Chevy on U.S. 290 near Old McDade Road around 6:30 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a semi-truck traveling west.

Investigators have not determined the reason why Islas-Viera swerved and hit the semi-truck, a DPS spokesman said.
