LYTTON, IA : Carroll man died in rollover crash in Sac County on Monday, 19th March 2018

The man who died in a single-vehicle rollover crash south of Lytton on Monday afternoon has been identified.

Deon Wingert, 44, of Carroll, was driving a 2017 Jeep Wrangler southbound on Zeller Avenue when he drifted into the west ditch, south of Sac County Road D42, the Iowa State Patrol reported.

The vehicle struck a field driveway and went airborne before coming back down and rolling multiple times, according to a report from the Sac County Sheriff’s Department.

Wingert, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, was ejected through the front window of the vehicle, according to officials.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol, Sac County Sheriff’s Department, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, Lytton Volunteer Fire Department, Sac County paramedics, and Sac County medical examiner, were on scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
