CARROLL, IA : One woman was killed and another injured in a head-on collision on Tuesday, May 30, 2017

One woman was killed and another injured in a head-on collision near Carroll.

Linda Smith, 57, of Coon Rapids, Iowa, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, which occurred at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Highway 71 near 250th Street about four miles south of Carroll.According to the Iowa State Patrol, Smith was southbound on U.S. 71 in a Toyota Camry when she crossed the center line and collided with a northbound Toyota RAV4 driven by Corie Walsh, 26, of Glidden, Iowa. Walsh was transported to St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
