Aurora, CO : Woman dead, man hurt after a rollover crash near South Chambers Road and Parker Road on Sunday night, July 24, 2016
A 28-year-old woman died and a 31-year-old man was injured Sunday night, July 24, after a rollover crash near South Chambers Road and Parker Road, Aurora police said.
According to police, the crash happened around 10:45 p.m. Sunday in the northbound lane of Chambers near East Crestline Avenue.
Police said a black Ford Explorer sped through the intersection of Chambers and Parker and tried to turn onto Chambers but lost control, struck the curb line and several signal light poles before rolling over.
A 31-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were thrown from the vehicle, police said.
Both were rushed to area hospitals where police said the woman was pronounced dead. The man is in stable condition.
Police said they aren’t yet sure which person was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Investigators believe neither person was wearing their seatbelt and that both alcohol and speeding were factors in the crash.
Sunday’s rollover is the 11th traffic fatality this year in Aurora, police said.
