Vancouver, WA : Four young people injured, two seriously, in a single car crash in Vancouver area on Friday night, March 6, 2015
Four young people were injured, one was seriously hurt, in a high-speed crash Friday night on SR 500 at St. Johns Boulevard, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The driver of the car was arrested, accused of driving under the influence alcohol, Trooper Will Finn said. The driver was taken to the hospital as well as the three passengers.
The car crashed into a concrete barrier just before 9 p.m., Finn said. He said the car had four people inside, ranging from late teens to young adults. At least one of them was 19 years old.
"We saw that there were three ambulances here at first. We did see that they had the Jaws of Life out, and they pulled the roof off the car," said Kyle Suran, who lives near the crash.
Four ambulances were sent to the scene.
Finn said the car was going north on St. Johns when it tried to turn onto westbound SR 500. The driver lost control of the car and crashed.
Troopers were told a passenger who was in the back of the car was lying outside the car when emergency crews arrived, but Finn said it was unclear if the passenger was ejected.
The on-ramp at the crash site is closed, and will be for several hours as police investigate the crash, Finn said.
The driver and passengers involved in the accident have been identified and their conditions are as follows: Tyler Carlson, 21, of Washougal, Wash., is under Federal privacy laws not to disclose his patient status.
Dominic Edwards, 19, of Portland, Ore., is listed in serious condition, while Erika Doving, 19, of Vancouver, Wash. and Taylor Soule, 18, of Ridgefield, Wash., are not listed as seriously hurt. Below is a video from the scene last night.
