Gainesville, FL : Wesley Chapel woman dies in crash on U.S. 441 near SW 56th Place early Friday morning, October 28, 2016
A Wesley Chapel woman died in a crash early Friday morning in Gainesville, a report said.
The crash, on U.S. 441 near SW 56th Place, took place about 1 a.m. and involved a collision with entrapment, a Gainesville Fire Rescue official said. A 4-year-old, who had been unaccounted for, was found under one of the vehicles with critical injuries. The child was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital.
A 2015 Volkswagen Jetta and 2004 Toyota Scion collided head-on in the northbound lanes of 441, leaving heavy damage to both vehicles and people trapped in one of the cars, Gainesville police said.
The driver of the car with the child died at the scene, the official said. She is a 27-year-old woman from Wesley Chapel whose name wasn't immediately released.
Two people were also taken to UF Health Shands with life-threatening injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, and the driver of the other vehicle, Johana Lee Klinger, 29, of Okeechobee, was seriously injured.
Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash, the FHP reported, however the crash remains under investigation.
