One person is dead in two-vehicle crash in Indianapolis

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash that occurred on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

Dispatchers with IMPD say a call came in around 12:45 a.m. Saturday on a report of a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of 71st Street and Creekside Lane.

Officers believe that both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on 71st Street before one of the vehicles may have swerved in front of the other. They did not say which vehicle specifically swerved. Both vehicles only had one occupant.

One driver was declared dead on scene, the other driver walked away from the crash with minor injuries and was released.

Officers say there is no early indication of alcohol being involved, but a blood test will be done on the surviving driver to make sure.
