Falling asleep at the wheel may be to blame for a car crash in Lake County Sunday morning involving five people, including two children.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 55–year–old Richard McGlothan of Minneapolis was driving northbound on Highway 61 near Larsmont Road with four passengers around 11:20 Sunday morning.
Authorities say he may have fallen asleep, and drifted into the left shoulder before over correcting on a slippery road.
McGlothan then reportedly lost control, ran off the road, and struck a rock cliff almost head–on.
All passengers, including a 6 and 10–year–old, were taken to Lakeview Hospital in Two Harbors with either minor or no injuries.
