She immediately ran outside to help.It was like running out into a war zone with car parts everywhere. There was smoke from all the cars. There were screams," said McKelvey.Troopers said Bridges’ Honda Civic rear-ended the couple’s Honda Accord, forcing the Accord into oncoming traffic.I heard a very faint voice say, 'Help me, I'm pregnant, help me, I am bleeding, please,'" said McKelvey.
There was no word on the extent of Whitmire's or McCall's injuries.
McKelvey said she has a medical background and did what she could until first responders arrived. But she knew the outcome would not be good.I put my hand on her belly to see if I could feel a contraction and I felt a few little kicks, but by the end I didn't feel anything and I knew immediately, before I even felt the baby kick, that the pregnancy was probably not going to last due to what I saw," said McKelvey.
