One man is dead and another was taken to the hospital after an early-morning crash in Manatee County.

Adam Absher, 37, of Land O’ Lakes died in the collision at State Road 70 just east of Robinson Road. Jacob Vondran, 23, of Sarasota sustained critical injuries. According to the Florida Highway Patol, Vondran was driving east on S.R. 70 in a 1997 Chevy Silverado when for unknown reasons his vehicle drifted across the center lane. Absher was headed westbound on S.R. 70 in a 2015 Dodge Challenger. The front left of the Silverado struck the front left of the Challenger.

Absher’s car spun into a ditch and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Silverado also sun and flipped, ejecting Vondran through the rear window in the process. Vondran was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
