BARRINGTON, RI : Crews investigating a double fatal car accident on Saturday, 20th January 2024

Crews in Barrington are investigating a double fatal car crash that happened on the Wampanoag Trail Saturday morning.

Just after 8 a.m., Barrington dispatch received a call through the E 911 center of car accident with possible injuries and a vehicle in the woods near the East Providence line.

When first responders arrived on scene, they found a heavily damaged car that went off the roadway and into the woods.

The driver, only being identified as a man in his 30’s, and passenger, a woman in her 20’s, were both taken to Rhode Island Hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Investigators say that both victims were wearing their seatbelts at the time and that speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
