Syracuse,NY : Driver ticketed after two-car crash on Interstate 81 north in Syracuse on November, Thursday 23th 2017
One person was ticketed after a two-car crash Thanksgiving morning on Interstate 81 north in Syracuse.
Omar Hargrett, 26, of Syracuse, drove onto I-81 north from the East Colvin Street around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, said Sgt. David Sackett, of the Syracuse Police Department. While trying to change lanes, Hargrett hit another car, he said.
Hargrett's sedan then spun around, hitting a guardrail and a utility pole, Sackett said. His car came to a stop facing south on the northbound highway -- inches away from the front bumper of the second car involved in the crash.
Wisam James, 36, of Syracuse, was driving the second car, Sackett said. After the initial accident, his car also hit the guardrail.
Three people were riding with Hargrett in his car. One of his passengers, Lula Stewart, 18, suffered a minor leg injury, Sackett said. She was not transported to a hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
Hargrett was ticketed for unsafely changing lanes, Sackett said.
