Corpus Christi, TX : Man killed in Saturday wreck identified on Saturday, 27th August, 2016
A man who died after being flung from his flipping vehicle was identified by the Nueces County Medical Examiners Office.
Jerry Alvarez, 43, was killed about 11 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of South Navigation Boulevard. Alvarez and his 44-year-old wife were in the car when it veered to the right, struck a culvert and flipped several times.
Alvarez was ejected from the vehicle and his wife, who was the passenger, was partially ejected, according to a police news release. The woman was treated for "at a minimum some broken bones" and is expected to survive, the news release states.
After an investigation, officers determined the man had consumed alcoholic drinks before getting in the car, the release states. Officers believe Alvarez and his wife were involved in a disturbance shortly before the crash.
The crash marks the 17th deadly wreck investigated by the Corpus Christi police Traffic Safety Section, according to the news release
