HELENA, MT : Victim killed in New Year’s Day crash near Avon identified on Sunday, January 1st 2017
Authorities have identified the 23-year-old man who died in a crash on Highway 12 that left four people injured near Avon on New Year’s Day.
The Independent Record reports that Nicholas William Mora, of Missoula, died at the scene of the Sunday collision, about 35 miles west of Helena.
The Montana Highway Patrol had reported that the victim was a passenger in a vehicle headed west on the highway when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car swerved into oncoming traffic and was struck by an eastbound SUV.
Three other people in Mora’s car and the driver of the SUV sustained moderate to severe injuries.
Authorities hadn’t released any updates on their conditions as of Tuesday.
