Hayes,VA : One person died after another car hit him in Gloucester County on Tuesday December 15 2015

A small Gloucester County community is mourning the loss of a local man who died while assisting a disabled car on Route 17.
According to Virginia State Police, Patrick Danforth was killed after another car hit him around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Patrick would help anyone, in any situation,” said Pam Carteret, a family friend.
Danforth, 36, had exited his vehicle near the intersection of Route 17 and Providence Road to help push the disabled car out of the roadway.
Danforth then crossed the northbound lane, which had a green light and was struck by a 1992 Suzuki Sidekick. He died upon impact. No one else was hurt.
Everyone is just so, so brokenhearted over it,” said Carteret, whose children grew up with Danforth and his siblings in the Hayes area.
In an online fundraiser set up by family members, Danforth is described as a “kind soul” who loved his five siblings, his mother and his son.
