Fredericksburg,VI : Woman convicted in wrong-way collision in Spotsylvania on October, Friday 27th 2017
A Spotsylvania County jury recommended an 18-month jail sentence for a woman who injured two people and took a swing at two others after causing a head-on collision while driving in the wrong direction.
Jessica King, 35, of Fredericksburg was convicted of DUI, assault on a law-enforcement officer and assault on a firefighter following a trial last week in Spotsylvania Circuit Court.
According to the evidence presented by prosecutor Colleen Barlow, King was intoxicated and driving the wrong way on State Route 3 in Spotsylvania when she smashed into a vehicle carrying two women and three children.
The children were not seriously injured, but the other driver suffered a broken ankle and her front-seat passenger had a broken wrist and shattered bones in her hand.
