Bridgeport, CT : Tractor-trailer accident on I-95 cleared after scuttling morning commute on April, Tuesday 4th 2017
After sunrise, when the rain began to clear, commuters started to take stock of a rocky Tuesday morning on the roads.
In Norwalk, a tractor-trailer accident in Norwalk had the right southbound lane on I-95 blocked starting before 6 a.m. An hour later, traffic had backed up to Bridgeport, merging with other delays in a 15-mile stretch of slog.
State Police said the accident, which resulted in no injuries, involved a tractor-trailer truck and one vehicle.
The accident was cleared at 8:30 a.m. Residual delays are expected.
Other road problems:
SHELTON - A rollover accident southbound on Route 8 near Exit 12 in Shelton - since cleared - is still causing delays in the Valley. The accident shut down the left lane. Residual delays stretch several miles into Ansonia.
GREENWICH - Northbound near Greenwich on the Merritt Parkway, fire officials confirmed that a fallen tree struck a vehicle which delayed traffic between Exits 31 in Greenwich and 33 in Stamford.. The scene was cleared by 6:45 a.m.
"Use caution. Strong winds," the fire department wrote on Twitter along with an image of the vehicle, which was torn open from hood to windshield to roof.
STRATFORD - Flooding conditions closed Exit 30 Southbound; it was reopened by 8:15 a.m.
Inside the city, flooding was blamed for trapping two separate vehicles around 6 a.m., according to an NBC report citing local firefighters. Rescuers had to put on cold water rescue suits to help drivers to safety on both Surf Avenue and Bruce Avenue.
The entrapments occurred during high tide in low-lying areas near estuary rivers.

With heavy rain is falling across southwest Connecticut there have numerous spinouts caused by wet road conditions.
