Henderson, KY : Boonville High School freshman killed in head-on crash early Saturday, December 17, 2016

A head-on collision killed a Boonville High School freshman and left a woman in critical condition early Saturday.

Warrick County Coroner Sarah Seaton confirmed that 15-year-old Skylar Robinson-Williamson died on scene of blunt force trauma after a passenger car she was traveling in was struck by a sports utility vehicle driving at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction on Indiana 62 near Stevenson Station Road west of Chandler.

The crash was reported about 1:30 a.m.

Warrick County Sheriff Brett Kruse identified the male driver of the SUV as 18-year-old Osiel Marroquin of Evansville.

Kruse said no criminal charges have been filed pending toxicology results. Marroquin is in hospital care but not seriously injured, he said.

Robinson-Williamson was the front seat passenger of a black Dodge passenger car driven by 20-year-old Whitney Winstead. Kruse identified the other passenger as 18-year-old Megan Ripperdan. Winstead and Ripperdan are former Boonville High School students.

Winstead, Ripperdan and Marroquin are being treated at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville. Ripperdan is in critical condition, Kruse said.

All three females were wearing seat belts, Seaton said.

Boonville and Chandler police were on the lookout for a wrong way driver on Indiana 62 in the prior moments leading up to the fatal crash after a motorist called 911 to make a report, Seaton said.

It's a season of tragedy for Warrick County.

Last month, Castle High School junior Sophie Rinehart, 16, and two members of her family were killed in a car crash along Interstate 69.

Boonville High School opened its door Sunday to students and the community who wanted to grieve.

The school has a population of 900 students.

The Boonville High School Choir Program also sang in memory of Robinson-Williamson, who was a member of the choir.

"Her beautiful voice and smile will be forever missed," according to a Facebook post by the organization.

Wendy Mary launched an online fundraiser to help the family with the funeral expenses.

Mary, who runs the nonprofit 4 A Better Chandler, works with Robinson-Willamson's mother's fiance at the Chandler town maintenance department and previously worked with her mother.

"It's really heartbreaking to know what these families are going through, and at this time of year," Mary told the Courier & Press Sunday.
