OKLAHOMA CITY, OK : Veteran found dead in stairwell at Oklahoma VA on Wednesday, August 23, 2017

Authorities are investigating after a veteran was found dead Wednesday evening in the stairwell of the Oklahoma Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, the VA said the Office of Inspector General, VA police, the medical examiner, VA leadership and others were looking into what happened.

The VA said no foul play is suspected. A report from the medical examiner will be released when the investigation is completed, the VA said, and “appropriate actions [will be] taken.”

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the Veteran,” the statement concludes.
