Brockton, MA : Woman, 89, crashes car into pet store on Friday morning, December 19, 2014
An 89-year-old woman crashed her car through a Brockton pet store at the Westgate Mall on Friday, causing major damage but no injuries, officials said. Thinking her car was in drive, Mildred Norton, accelerated in reverse through the front entrance of Pet Supplies Plus — located at 494 Westgate Drive — at about 10:15 a.m., said Brockton police Lieutenant David Dickinson. Norton refused to be taken to the hospital for medical attention, Dickinson said. She has not yet been charged or cited for the crash, Dickinson said. A manager at the store, who did not want to be named, said the store was open at the time of the crash.
