Shakopee,MN : Teenager airlifted after Shakopee crash on August, Wednesday 23th 2017

A 19-year-old Shakopee woman is still hospitalized after a crash on County Road 18 last week.

Alexiss Salinas was airlifted to the hospital after a crash on County Road 18 on Aug. 23. Her boyfriend, Logan Loerzel, 19, was driving when he rear-ended a slow-moving asphalt truck that was working on sealing a sidewalk and bike path next to the roadway, severely injuring Alexiss Salinas, according to the crash report. According to the crash report, the driver was “distracted.”

Salinas was trapped and had to be removed “by mechanical means” and then airlifted to a hospital, according to the report. No other injuries were reported.

The work vehicle had an orange strobe light on the top but there were no other lights and signs.

Salinas has “bleeding on the brain, a broken arm that will need to be reconstructed, several visual injuries on her face,” according to a GoFundMe for hospital expenses. A recent update says she was moved out of ICU but then returned for more monitoring, requiring her arm reconstruction to be postponed.

“We do not know much about the brain situation at this time,” the fundraising page says. “Please pray as her parents and herself will be in and out of work to be with her at this time. We need to cover medical bills, rent and living expenses while she heals — Alexiss is very young and lives on her own income. These cost will be so very expensive for such a young lady that is just starting out in life to carry.”

The campaign currently has over $3,500 out of a $10,000 goal.
