Fort Smith, AR : Muldrow woman dies after high-speed crash in Fort Smith on Thursday, December 22nd 2016
A Muldrow woman is dead after crashing her car into a wall around 12:15 a.m. Thursday near Immaculate Conception Church, 1402 S. A St., following a high-speed chase from Roland to Fort Smith, according to Roland police.
A Roland police officer clocked the woman, identified as Jessica Schwarz, 27, of Muldrow, driving 77 in a 45 mph zone on U.S. 64 late Wednesday night before pursuing her, but when the officer attempted to pull her over for the speeding violation, she increased speed and was up to 100 mph before crossing the state line, where the officer ended pursuit, according to Roland police.
Roland police provided a vehicle description for Fort Smith police as the vehicle headed toward Rogers Avenue, according to Fort Smith police. Soon afterward, a single-injury accident with injuries was reported at 1400 Rogers Ave.
The exact cause of the crash is still unclear. Schwarz's body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy and toxicology testing.
