Walterboro, SC : No serious injuries after school bus crash in Colleton County on Monday morning, March 23, 2015

Officials with Colleton County Fire-Rescue say 30 students where transported to a hospital Monday morning after their school bus overturned in Walterboro. The school bus driver has been charged in the accident.

Fire Chief Barry McRoy says a school bus flipped on its side into a ditch in the 1100 block of St. Peters Road in Walterboro. Crews arrived to find a crowd of students in the roadway, as they were all able to climb out of the bus.

Highway Patrol says the driver missed a curve and overturned. The driver of the school bus was charged with driving too fast for conditions.

An official with Colleton County School District says Colleton County Middle and High School students were on the bus, none of which suffered major injuries.

Colleton County Fire-Rescue initially reported 24 children were transported to Colleton Medical with minor injuries. McRoy says six other students were taken to the hospital by their parents, and the driver was also evaluated.

The Sheriff's Office, along with firefighters and several ambulances responded to the scene.

St. Peters Road was closed for roughly two hours while crews responded to the scene.
