Adams County, IN : Geneva woman killed in single-vehicle crash on County Road 500 West near County Road 100 South, five miles west of Monroe on Saturday, 7th December, 2019
A Geneva woman died in a single-vehicle crash in Adams County late Saturday night.
At about 10:30 p.m., Trooper Anthony Repass was dispatched to a reported crash on County Road 500 West near County Road 100 South, five miles west of Monroe. Repass found a black 2005 Cadillac passenger car with heavy damage. The driver, identified as Megan Sue Masters, 26, of rural Geneva, was trapped inside and unresponsive, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.
Paramedics tried to rescue and resuscitate the driver but she was pronounced dead at that scene by the Adams County Coroner.
Initial reports reveal the vehicle was traveling north on County Road 500 West before leaving the road. Masters overcorrected, coming back on the road before losing control of the Cadillac. The car spun 180 degrees before crashing into a concrete bridge abutment. Masters was not wearing a seatbelt, and excessive speed was believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the news release.
The Adams County Coroner will determine whether a medical condition or other issues contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.
