Jonesboro, AR : Police officer involved in head-on collision at Highway 351 and County Road 7822 in Craighead County on Thursday afternoon, Sep 3, 2015

Arkansas State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a Jonesboro police officer.

Emergency crews responded to the head-on collision at Highway 351 and County Road 7822 Thursday afternoon. Craighead County Road 7822 is the entrance to the Grand Cascades subdivision.

A Jonesboro Police Department cruiser was involved. The other vehicle involved flipped over.

Jonesboro Police Chief Rick Elliott told Region 8 News at the scene the officer involved was driving on Highway 351 when a black truck crossed into his lane and hit the officer head on.

Elliott said the officer is Cpl. David McDaniel.

JPD Public Information Specialist Paul Holmes said Thursday that McDaniel was injured in the crash, but has been released from a Jonesboro hospital.

The name of the driver of the truck was not released.

Emergency personnel described the driver's injuries as "serious" and they were airlifted from the scene.

Holmes says ASP Troop C out of Jonesboro is investigating the crash.
