SCIOTO COUNTY, OH : 3 children dead in Scioto County crash; driver arrested on Friday, 23rd May 2024

Three young children, all ages 6 and under, died after a two-vehicle crash involving a suspected impaired driver, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported just before 1:30 p.m. on state Route 104 near milepost 13. That’s located near Slate Run Road in the Lucasville area.

Troopers say Gage A. Smith, 22, of Piketon, was the driver of a Chevrolet Cavalier that contained the three children who died and a 28-year-old woman from Piketon. The woman was taken to SOMC and later transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious injuries.
