Somerton, AZ : Four people injured in two-car crash near Somerton on Tuesday afternoon, April 19, 2016

The Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department responded to a two-car collision on Tuesday afternoon in which four people were injured.

According to Capt. Javier Hernandez, the wreck happened at approximately 12:35 p.m. at the intersection of County 17th Street and Avenue B 1/2.

Upon arrival to the scene firefighters found a Chevrolet Venture minivan and a Honda Accord with heavy damage to both vehicles.

The Chevrolet minivan had a total of three patients, including a 45-year-old female patient who was complaining of chest pain. The two other passengers in the minivan were a 20-year-old male patient with a laceration to the head and a 14-year-old male teenager with chest pain and lacerations to face area.

The only passenger in the Honda was a 22-year-old pregnant female with lacerations to the face and possible internal injuries.

All four patients were placed in cervical spine immobilization to prevent spinal injuries and transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for their injuries.

One patient was transported by Somerton/Cocopah ambulance, one by San Luis Fire ambulance and two by Rural Metro ambulance.

The Yuma County Sheriffs Office is investigating the accident.
