Weld County, CO : Driver killed when ejected from rolling car in Weld Co. on Monday ,July 27th 2015

The Colorado State Patrol said it believes a Keenesburg driver killed in a one-car crash Monday was speeding down a dirt road when he lost control, rolled the car and was ejected.

State Patrol spokesman Trooper Nate Reid said two passengers in the car -- 15-year-old and 17-year-old boys -- were transported to Children's Hospital Colorado with minor injuries. Reid did not know the relationship between the boys and the man who was killed.

The Weld County Coroner's Office said the victim, identified as 42-year-old Jose Triana-Valenzuela, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened about 7 a.m. as Triana-Valenzuela was driving a 1995 Chevy Cavalier west on Weld County Road 10, a half-mile east of County Road 63, Reid said.

The driver lost control and the car ran off the left side of the road, rolling onto its roof and ejecting the driver. The vehicle also hit a steel pole at some point in the crash, Reid added.

Triana-Valenzuela's Colorado arrest history shows he had three DUI arrests since 2003 -- and several violations for driving without a license or with a revoked license. During a 2010 traffic stop in Weld County, he was also cited for driving with fictitious license plates and without insurance.

However, Reid said State Patrol investigators don't suspect alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, but excessive speed is being investigated as a cause.
