A Newark woman died after sustaining injuries during a motorcycle crash on Route 13 in Perry County Sunday.

Lori A. Veits, 53, was a passenger on the motorcycle of Darreld Halblaub, 46, also of Newark during the wreck at 4:15 p.m. Halblaub was riding northbound on Route 13 in Thorn Township, north of High Point Road.

Garret White, 50, of Heath, also was riding a motorcycle in the northbound lane near Halblaub, according to a report from the Lancaster post of the State Highway Patrol.

The report states the two motorcycles attempted to pass a vehicle when they came into contact, causing Halblaub to lose control of his motorcycle. Both Halblaub and Veits were ejected from the motorcycle.

Halblaub was taken to the Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center by helicopter and was in serious condition Tuesday. Veits was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, where she died from her injuries
