One woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Herkimer County Sunday afternoon, state police said.
Theresa Woolsey, 46, of Brookfield, was killed when she was ejected from a motorcycle driven by Douglas Woolsey, 50 of Brookfield, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital, troopers said.
Around 12:15 p.m. Sunday, a van was stopped on Route 20, attempting to make a left turn into a driveway, when a motorcycle towing a trailer rear-ended the van, state police said.
The operator of the motorcycle, Douglas Woolsey and passenger, Theresa Woolsey were both ejected from the motorcycle, which came to rest on its left side in the westbound lane, state police said.
The force of the crash forced the van into the eastbound lane where it struck a Jeep, operated by Bruce Vanbrink, 56, of Cooperstown, which then left the shoulder and turned over onto its roof, state police said.
The operator of the van, Jonathan Neitzey, 23, of Bowie, Maryland was transported to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown with minor injuries, state police said.
Vanbrink was transported to Bassett Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, state police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
