Opelika, AL : Tallassee woman dies in single vehicle crash on Interstate 85 on Sunday December 6 2015

A 67 year old woman from Tallassee died Sunday after being involved in a single vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 85 at mile marker 67.5 in Opelika.
At approximately 7:44 p.m., officers of the Opelika Police Department, along with the Opelika Fire Department, East Alabama Medical Center Emergency Transport Services, and Life Flight Air Medical Services, responded to the area of Interstate 85 North at mile marker 67.5 in reference to a single vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival officers observed a Ford F150 in the wood line. The truck was occupied by two people. The driver, a 67 year old female from Tallassee, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The passenger was flown to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Ga, were she remains in an unknown condition at this time.
No names will be released at this time pending notification of the next of kin by the Lee County Coroner’s Office. This crash remains under investigation by the Opelika Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit.
