An Maryland man was killed after police say the car he was riding in crashed into another vehicle on Windy Hill Road near Jean Place on Tuesday.
John Benjamin Daniel Harris Jr., 22, of Annapolis, Maryland, died from the injuries he sustained after the car he was traveling in spun out of control and crossed over a raised concrete media, according to Cobb Police.
Police say Harris was riding in a black 2014 Chevrolet Camaro with another passenger, Derrick Souffrant, 24, of Uniondale, New York, and the driver, Quantae L. Adams 21, of Marietta when the vehicle collided with a maroon 2002 Pontiac Montana. Souffrant was taken to WellStar South Cobb Hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries, police said. Police identified the three passengers of the Pontiac Montana as Bernardo Alvarez, 36, his wife and their child, all of whom were treated for minor injuries at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.
Adams was charged with failure to maintain lane, driving on a suspended license, DUI, serious injury by vehicle, homicide by vehicle and giving false name and date of birth, and is being held in custody without bond.
Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said the Cobb Selective Traffic Enforcement Program is investigating the fatality.
