Hermitage,TN : Man charged in deadly weekend hit-and-run motorcycle crash in Hermitage on July, Sunday 9th 2017

A man is facing charges after police say he crashed into two motorcyclists Sunday in Hermitagekilling one of them then ran away from the scene.

Zachary Joseph Price was found sleeping at a relative’s home near the crash scene several hours after the accident and appeared to be intoxicated, police said in a press release late Sunday.

Police say Price was at the wheel of a 2005 Nissan Altima when the accident happened shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday on Old Hickory Boulevard near The Hermitage.

Investigators said Robert L. Jordan Jr., 60, of Madison, Tenn., and a 67-year-old Hendersonville man were riding southbound side by side at the time of the accident.

Price was northbound and allegedly drifted into the northbound lane, crashing head-on into Jordan and also hitting the Hendersonville man.

Witnesses told police Price and his passenger, an 18-year-old woman, got out of the car at the scene. The woman stayed but Price allegedly took off into a nearby neighborhood.

The Hendersonville motorcycle rider was taken to Summit Medical Center where police said he was in stable condition Sunday night. The woman in Price’s car was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police found Price at a relative’s home on Trails End Lane at about 7 p.m. He was taken to Nashville General Hospital where a search warrant was being served for a sample of his blood.

Investigators allegedly found evidence of “potential drug and alcohol involvement” in the Nissan but further details about what they found were not immediately available. Police said there was no indication of impairment on the part of either of the motorcyclists.

Price faces charges of vehicular homicide by intoxication, vehicular assault and leaving the scene of a fatal crash, police said.
