Sun city west, AZ : SCW crash injures golf-car driver on RH Johnson Boulevard at 138th Avenue Tuesday afternoon on August 12, 2014

A golf car driver was seriously hurt when his vehicle and a car collided on RH Johnson Boulevard at 138th Avenue Tuesday afternoon. Photos from the scene showed the golf car appearing to have been making a left turn from southbound RH Johnson Boulevard into the driveway separating the Recreation Centers of Sun City West parking lot with the lot in front of a new Fry’s grocery store and shopping center. A white Buick sedan, which had been traveling north on RH Johnson, also sits in the intersection. The golf car driver, 68, whose name was not immediately available, was flown with unspecified injuries to St. Joseph’s Westgate Medical Center in Glendale, while the female driver of the Buick was unhurt. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies closed the road in both directions for about an hour and a half before reopening the southbound lanes of RH Johnson around 4:30 p.m. MCSO deputies are continuing to investigate the crash.
