LIVE OAK, FL : Two teenagers injured in semi truck accident on Saturday, 22 October 2016
Two teenagers suffered serious injuries in a three vehicle accident involving a semi truck Saturday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Kitty Song, 16, of Live Oak was driving north on US Highway 129 in a 2006 Honda Civic with passenger Kyle Song, 14, also of Live Oak, the report states.
Jessee Howell, 16, was driving in front of Song in an SUV with passenger Valessa Howell, 44, of McAlpin, the report states.
At 9:50 a.m. at the intersection of US Highway 129 and 102nd Trace, Jessee stopped due to another vehicle waiting for traffic to clear to make a left turn, according to the report.
Kitty failed to stop, striking the left rear of the SUV with the front right of the Honda, the report states.
Kitty’s vehicle then rotated, causing it to strike a semi truck that was pulling a mobile home, according to the report.
Kitty and Kyle were flown to UF Health in Gainesville with serious injuries and in stable condition, according to Suwannee County Fire Rescue.
Jessee Howell received no injuries, but Valessa was transported to Shands Live Oak with minor injuries, according to the report.
Bernard Thrift, 60, of White Springs was the semi truck driver and received no injuries, the report states.
