Hicksville, NY : Car crashes into entrance of Long Island post office on Tuesday, September 2, 2014
A busy Long Island post office is closed to customers after a car rammed its entrance.
Nassau County police say one customer inside the Hicksville post office was cut by broken glass in the crash around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. They say the driver, an elderly man, was not hurt.
The accident left the parking lot littered with debris, metal supports twisted, and the building's main doorway caving and unstable.
The Hicksville post office usually offers counter service weekdays from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. A large distribution facility in the rear of the building appeared unaffected by the crash.
A telephone number for the post office's postmaster had a busy signal.
