Allen County, IN : Semi tractor-trailer driver dead after a three-vehicle crash on I-469 at Indiana 37/Maplecrest on Friday, December 11, 2015
A semi driver is dead after rear-ending another rig on Interstate 469 this morning, officials said.
The collision, which sparked a fire, happened about 8:30 a.m. on I-469 between Maplecrest Road and US-37. Allen County Sheriff's Department spokesman Capt. Steve Stone said it is possible the crash partly resulted from a traffic slowdown caused by an earlier accident that also involved a semi about 2:30 a.m.
In that crash, no one was seriously injured. Stone said a minivan also was involved in the fatality crash and a female driver was taken to the hospital in fair condition. The driver of the struck semi was uninjured. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
Authorities are advising motorists that both sides of I-469 are closed and to use alternative routes. No further information is available.
