Salem, N.H : Derry man killed in a single-car accident on Interstate 93 near the Massachusetts line early Monday morning, July 25, 2016

A Derry man was killed in a single-car accident on Interstate 93 near the Massachusetts line early Monday morning, State Police said.

Ethan E. Hargreaves, 22, a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash shortly before 5 a.m. The driver, Nicholas J. Cauchey, also 22 and from Derry, suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital but is expected to recover, State Police said in a statement.

Cauchey and Hargreaves were traveling southbound into Massachusetts when, for unknown reasons, Cauchey lost control of the car and veered off the roadway, State Police said. The car traveled several feet down an embankment, overturned and came to rest in a cluster of trees.

Salem Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
