Scottsbluff, NE : Two injured in Monday collision on Monday 24th October, 2016
A driver traveling in reverse caused an accident that resulted in a sugar beet truck overturning on Highway 71 south of Gering Monday. The crash occurred south of Robidoux Road at about 8:30 p.m.
The collision resulted in the closure of the road for a few hours as sugar beets covered a portion of the highway. A Nebraska State Patrol dispatcher said James Marker, 67, of Gering, collided with a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Zulema Sabala of Scottsbluff. Sabala had been traveling northbound on Highway 72 when she put her care in reverse.
The sugar beet truck driven by Marker rolled onto its side.
Sabela and Marker were both transported to Region West Medical Center with injuries.
Sabala was cited on charges of unsafe backing and careless driving.
